  • Center Programs - School Age

Our School Age Child Care (SACC) program is for children in kindergarten through 12 years old. NCDC believes that a quality SACC program needs to be full of free choice opportunities as a way to off-set their structured school day.

From 6:30 - 8:15, the children are allowed to choose activities at their discretion before the Oxford School District transportation department picks them up to transport them to their school. The children are always supervised by an adult at the pick-up / drop off location. After school, centers are set up to give children choices in their "out of school" time, but to still offer ample opportunities to keep busy. The children have a wide range of activities, from cooking, art and crafts, outside time and board games that they choose to participate in at will.

Our School Age program works in conjunction with the Oxford School District schedule, so full day care is available when school is out. Transportation is available to and from the Oxford Area School District only. NCDC is often usually open during snow days as well, so that you can be confident that your child is in a safe, fun environment on these days. NCDC also offers a full day summer program which includes field trips and activities to stimulate them socially and recreation ally as well as academically.

• Summer Program:

Our summer day program is for children completing Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. Parents may sign their children up for as few or as many weeks as needed. Each week a different recreational theme is stressed, such as the arts or sports. We also plan daily craft activities, structured outside games, reading time, and water play for those hot days of summer.
We also introduce a virtues program to our school age children during the summer. This program works through intrinsic and extrinsic rewards to help the children make positive choices dealing with virtues such as; consideration, compassion, helpfulness, and patience. Activities are planned daily to help build these skills.
This is an example of our summer program.
Art Camp
This session will focus on having the children explore the creative arts. Children will learn about various artists, practice certain artistic techniques as well as enjoy a plethora of art projects. The
children will enjoy a trip to an art museum during this session to explore professional art.

Nature Camp
During this session, the children will work with science and environmental issues. Hands on science activities will be implemented daily.

Sports Camp
Over this week, the children will be divided into teams and they will play a variety of sports, from baseball to soccer. The children will focus on the fundamentals and rules revolving around the sports that are being played. Good sportsmanship and playing together as a team are the main goals of this session

Proud to be American
During this session, the children will learn about our heritage and why we should all be proud of our country. Patriotic activities and a field trip to tour historic Philadelphia will be planned for this week. (Please note that the center is closed July 4th.)

Music Camp
This session will explore a wide variety of music, from classical to bluegrass to modern music. Children will also have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of instruments. The children will put together a music and dance program to conclude this session.

Drama Camp
The drama session is an opportunity for the children to learn about putting on a play. They will study techniques involved with learning to act, work with musical theater, explore backstage happenings and lastly put everything together to put on a production for the parents to attend.
(Please note that this is a two-week camp and registration for both weeks is required for the children to be offered a part in the end of session production.)

Hands-On Workshop
Children will work on a variety of lengthy and detailed arts and craft projects during this session. The children will enjoy using their creativity to design one-of-a-kind creations.

Sports Camp
This session is a second week of team sporting activities. The focus is the same as the previous sport camp this summer.

Travel Camp
The children will learn about many different countries and cultures during this session. They will experience foods, activities, games and crafts to connect with the many countries of the world.

Carnival / Celebration Week
As our last official week of summer, the children will prepare an end of the year celebration
carnival for the day care children and parents. Children will make booths, plan for prizes and
learn about organizing and running a function. On Friday, August 26th, the children will open the carnival for "business".
